Your health and safety are my highest priority. In compliance with New York State Guidelines for Personal Care Services, I have created a safety plan this is available for review at the clinic. This page is a summary of the precautions I am taking to keep you (and me) safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because massage is a touch-based modality that cannot be performed while maintaining six feet of distance, strict adherence to all other safety precautions is critical. Some of these measures may be slightly uncomfortable, but I will always prioritize safety over comfort in my practice.
All clients will be screened before entering the massage room. The health screening consists of two elements:
I will take your temperature with a touchless thermometer. Fever can be a symptom of COVID-19. If your temperature is above 100.4 degrees, I will ask you to leave. If you do not consent to a temperature check the massage will not be conducted.
You will be asked to read and complete a form with questions about your health status, recent travel, and exposure to people with COVID-19 symptoms.
I practice good hand hygiene by washing my hands before and after each massage, and after each cleaning session. Before your massage session, I will ask you to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer provided outside and inside the treatment room.
New York State guidelines require both the therapist and the client to wear a mask or face covering at all times, including during the massage session. If you do not have a mask or face covering, one will be provided to you. Masks and face coverings must be worn over the nose and mouth.
If you are not able to wear a mask or face covering for health reasons or you choose not to wear one, the massage cannot be provided. Masks with an exhalation valve are not allowed because the one-way valve only protects the person wearing it.
As required by New York State guidelines, I wear a face shield in addition to a mask during your massage session.
Massage cannot be performed while maintaining six feet of distance. However, social distancing will be maintained before and after your massage session (intake, payments, scheduling, home care, questions, etc.).
Cleaning and Sanitation
I have added extra time between sessions in order to completely clean and disinfect the treatment room and items in it. Here are specific steps I take between each session:
The massage table, which is sealed in a plastic cover, will be disinfected before clean sheets are put on it
All pillows, which are sealed in vinyl covers, will be disinfected before clean pillow cases are put on them
All surfaces and equipment in the treatment room will be disinfected
Used sheets and pillow cases will be placed in a sealed container
A cleaning log will be maintained
